If you are looking for the best way to catch crappie the choices may seem a little overwhelming at times. Fishing is meant to be fun but a slow day is really a drag. Those are the times when you wonder if there is a better way!

Maybe you have been to the sporting goods store recently and spent an arm and a leg for fishing gear. You would think that things would be looking up right?

So many guys make the mistake of forgetting about the obvious things when it comes to fishing. The reality is this: you aren't going to catch fish if you aren't throwing your rig in the right place! That is one of the most obvious crappie catching secrets!

Some of the simple things you may not have considered include the following too:

1. Crappie hide in cover.
2. The water level they can be found at changes with the outside temperatures.
3. You won't find them in water that has insufficient oxygen.
4. HOW you fish for them is just as important as the bait you use.

Crappie by nature are not the most predatory fish in the water. They are frightened easily. If there is a lot of activity on the lake or pond (such as boats on top) they will move away from that area.
